missions and ministry, updates
Doesn’t science disprove God? Why would a ‘good’ God allow so much evil and suffering in the world? And would He really send people to Hell? Doesn’t that make Him a moral monster? And was Jesus really resurrected? Is the Bible even reliable, historically? How can there only be one true religion? You may have wrestled with these questions at some point in your faith journey. These are important issues - and they are HUGE hurdles to get over for people who have not yet made a decision to follow Jesus. Oh, who am I kidding? I wrestle with some of them too, and I’m a missionary!   The VERY good news is, there are convincing, well-reasoned responses to those questions. In a letter written to churches scattered throughout what…

Big Break, Part II

missions and ministry, updates
Last month, I shared an individual story from Big Break, Cru’s large-scale Spring Break outreach in Panama City Beach, Florida. This month, I wanted to share some of the bigger-picture details and why they’re important LONG AFTER the experience in Florida is over. For example, over 2100 college students came to Big Break over the course of 3 weeks. They got relevant, meaningful training on how to start spiritual conversations using online resources and other conversation- starting tools like The Words Project, which our team developed (check out WordsProject.org). Over the course of three weeks, those students went out into the town and beaches and initiated over 14,000 spiritual conversations. And 4494 of those conversations led to the student being able to share the gospel with someone. As a result…

The Gap Theory – Indian Tour Recap

artistry and excellence, missions and ministry
Well, The Gap Theory's 2012 India tour is in the books. Pretty sure none of us are operating on the proper time zone yet... but here's the recap: What we did: 15 full-length concerts where we shared the gospel clearly (and, of course, rocked like a proverbial hurricane) 1 all-day music and ministry training seminar 6 ‘drop-in’ partial performance appearances (anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour) 1 outreach concert started, but cancelled after 2 songs due to rain (had to strike the stage in a downpour) What it did to us: Miles travelled = ~20000 (includes air and road miles in-country) Kilometers travelled (since India is all metric and stuff): ~32000 % of those miles / kilometers that were bumpy, cramped, and hot: 100 Nights spent sleeping in airports:…

The Gap Theory – 2012 India Tour

artistry and excellence, missions and ministry
For September, I'm out on tour with The Gap Theory. We're currently in Chennai, India and we'll be here pretty much all month. Check the link above for our website for updates. So far, we've already played a full show at a college, and seen 80 or so people make decisions to start a relationship with Christ. We also did a 1-day training seminar about using music in ministry. We led classes on our philosophy of ministry, using music to share the gospel, personal stories, and what means to pursue excellence as an artist for God's glory. We're still trying to get on the right time zone... we're all really tired, but grateful for safe travel and for how well our hosts are taking care of us. We have 13…
