About the top number:
In case you were wondering, and if you’ve been following my recent hernia saga, this is what it costs for a 4 hour E.R. visit ($6,311.79) to diagnose the problem and a 2-hour outpatient surgery ($56,669.19) to do a mesh implant to repair a ventral hernia where there was no strangulation or restriction of the G.I. tract.

About the bottom number:
This is the median annual U.S. household income (Source: Census.Gov, 2015-2019).

Let me be clear - we’re very grateful for access to quality healthcare services, and REALLY grateful for healthcare insurance - because, obviously.

But this is an interesting snapshot of the state of healthcare in America. A 4-hour ER visit and a 2-hour uncomplicated outpatient laparoscopic surgery costs more than many U.S. households live on in a year.

To absolutely no one’s surprise, I tinkered with one of my guitars today.

Installed the @ilitchelectronics backplate silent single coil system on my ‘86 @fender #stratocaster.

(Obviously, this is not the first mod I’ve done to this guitar, but I digress…)

This is the best -by far- of all the noise cancellation products I have tried. Loses the noise, but retains all of the sparkle and fullness of the pickups.

When your daughter calls you in the afternoon because the power window regulator quit working with the window all the way down, and she has two finals that day, and it’s raining...

...You drive an hour and a half to her college, trade vehicles, and then take the door apart so you can disconnect the window panel from the regulator, push it all the way up and tape it in place, and then drive an hour and a half home in the rain.

(And your daughter, who is an engineering student, stays with you in the parking garage and helps because she’s cool like that.)
